Instagram has become an incredibly popular promotion and information tool for the AEGEE network. However, while 140 locals use Instagram, the way they do it is very uneven. In this Instagram check the Golden Times had a look which antennae are the most popular on this medium – and who could do more to use the potential of Instagram.
No other antenna has so many subscribers on Instagram as AEGEE-Odessa: 2786. Altogether 41 out of the top 50 locals have posted at least once this month, five more in April 2019. Only AEGEE-Beograd, AEGEE-Siena and AEGEE-Torun did not post anything in this year. None of the locals with an Instagram account has less than 104 subscribers.
Still lagging behind Facebook
Nevertheless, AEGEE on Instagram still has to go a long way. With the top number of 2786 subscribers, on Facebook an AEGEE local would not even be among the 50 most popular antennae. The most popular antenna on Facebook, AEGEE-Baki, has 14,199 fans. By the way, the antenna in the capital of Azerbaijan is excelling on both social media channels: it is currently the number two in the AEGEE network on Instagram, and if it continues to post in the current speed, it will probably be soon on top. AEGEE-Baki had 14 Instagram posts this month.
However, the number of posts does not always correspond with the number of subscribers. The Instagram check shows: only 59 locals have made more than 100 Instagram posts so far, while 23 locals with an Instagram account posted less than 20 times. Three locals with an account never made a single post. Not to talk about the more than 22 locals and contacts that have not an Instagram account at all. Combined, that’s more than one quarter of the network.
Only 90 locals posted this month
So, when was the last post? 90 locals posted at least since this month. Especially the Agora in Bucharest was a popular occasion. This also means that 72 locals and contacts did not post anything this month. 17 of them at least posted something in April 2019, but from a PR point of view this is not enough. 20 locals did not use this social medium at all this year.
Since this is the first thorough Instagram check of the Golden Times, there are no data yet about the recent development of numbers. Only this much: In February 2015 the Golden Times had a first look at the popularity of Instagram in AEGEE. Back then only 31 locals had an account. One year later, the number was up to 59.
